Finally - a much needed vacation. I am released from the dark and gray days of Portland rain for one week. I decided to fly to San Francisco to visit my best friend of 23 years, Julie.
Simply put: I love to travel. I always get much needed perspective when I step away from an unnecessarily overwhelming job and get out of my routine. I brought my notebook which has been neglected since January of this year. I looked at the blank pages ahead and review the strangely beautiful cluttered thoughts scribbled on pages before. Looking back, I came across journal entries that made me realize the challenges I faced and how the Divine brought me through each one.
As I work on updating my website, set music goals for the upcoming year, and sip on my fair-trade americano, I came across a previous post and decided that it is the kind of reminder I want to share with everyone:
2013 June 13th
Never forget: You absolutely matter After a long, bad week, my mama bean helped counsel me through some deep sadness I was feeling. The lie I believed was "I don't matter." We sat in silence as I waited for Truth to speak to my heart. The Divine spoke: "I made you from matter, because you matter." I share my story in hopes that it may help show you who you are - a beautiful, bright shining light that matters. Your life is significant. You are so incredibly important and loved.
So, my little warriors, do not hide your light under a bushel. Shine it for everyone to see, and if you ever forget that you matter, just take a look at this post and know that you are deeply loved and your life is necessary. Also, don't forget to take risks for the sake of your art and your heart. Surprise your loved ones, send them love letters (the snail mail kind), and add romance back into your life -- with yourself, your friends, your family and your sweetheart <3
